Also called the Arizona blond tarantula, this spider's carapace is densely covered by pale hair, in contrast to its darker legs and abdomen. Measuring 3 to 5 inches in length, they are commonly seen during the summer rainy season in saguaro-dominated plant communities. Males are vulnerable to being eaten by the females when mating.
